Venerable Bhikkhuni Silavaddhani​​

Venerable Bhikkhuni Silavaddhani has been involved in Buddhism since 1997 and has practiced Vipassana since 2006. In January 2010 she ordained in Thailand as a candidate (Maechee) with the Most Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo as a mentor. In June 2012, she was ordained a novice (Samaneri) in Sri Lanka with the Venerable Rahatungoda Saddha Sumana Bhikkhuni as a mentor. With the approval and support of her teachers and mentors, she received the higher ordination to Bhikkhuni in January 2019 with the Venerable Rahatungoda Saddha Sumana Bhikkhuni as the instructor (Pavattini) and the Most Venerable Waskaduwe Mahindawansa Maha Nayaka Thero as the instructor. Since 2009 she has been practicing regularly at Wat Phradhatu Sri Chomtong Voravihara and was instructed by Khun Thanat and Khun Kathryn Chindaporn, and trained as a meditation teacher. Furthermore, she organized meditation courses and lectures with the venerable Phra Ajarn Ofer in Germany. Here she assisted the teacher and translated. In October 2014, she was authorized by the Most Venerable Phra Prom Mongkol Vi (Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo) as a meditation teacher. In May 2014, she received an award for Buddhist benefactors at the regional level of Chiang Mai Province, and in May 2016 she received a special award from Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo. From April 2010 to December 2016, she lived in a Thai temple near Frankfurt am Main. In summer 2015, the venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo entrusted her with setting up and managing another Vipassana meditation center in Germany. Since 2018 she has been living and teaching in the Dhammanikhom Vipassana meditation center in Heinersbrück near Cottbus. The Venerable Bhikkhuni Silavaddhani speaks German, English and has basic knowledge of Thai.
